Who said penguins can't fly?

Now that winter is approaching and snow begins to slowly cover mountain peaks, wouldn't you like to race down snowy slopes at top speed? It's lots of fun even for a penguin like you!

Extreme Tux Racer is based on the original penguin skiing game Tux Racer, which was pretty much discontinued. A new group of developers have polished the old version a bit and have added a few new tracks and some mini-games to spice it up.

The result is a fun, easy racing game with both championship and quick race modes that will put your speeding and sliding abilities to test. The game, however, seems to have been designed especially for kids as it soon turns out to be too easy and somewhat repetitive.

The brave penguin Tux flies down the mountains in a crazy race on the snow.

Extreme Tux Racer is an open source racing game featuring Tux the Linux Penguin. ETRacer continues in the tracks of Tux Racer and its folks. And now, we present to you with the initial release of Extreme Tux Racer, brought to you by a new team of developers.

While there is the addition of a new campaign and a few bug fixes here and there, our main goal with this release is to break in our new name and team.

The game enables you to enjoy fast-paced races down snowy mountains while gathering fish along your way. Plus, there are several in-game challenges that will unblock new tracks and scenarios.

PROS

  • Good 3D graphics
  • Championship and Quick race
